What are non-invasive options for treating teen acne? From Dr. Collins, FAAD Going back to school can be taxing and worrying about acne only adds to the stress. We offer both Teen Acne Facials and Sciton Blue Light acne treatments with no downtime, so you can get right back to class after treatment.   The acne facial is designed to reduce breakouts, clogged pores, redness, and irritation. We start with an exfoliation of the skin to remove the outermost dead skin cells, preparing the skin for extractions. The most important part of this treatment is removing existing clogged pores. Personalized serums, creams or prescriptions are used depending on the skin type to speed healing and reduce redness. All skin types will benefit from this procedure and treatments are safe.   For severe cases, such as acne cysts, we provide the Sciton Blue Light acne treatment. Blue light therapy targets the sebaceous glands, killing the bacteria that cause acne while leaving the surrounding tissue untouched. It also diminishes further outbreaks, allows the skin to heal faster and has been found to reduce the need for oral medications, including antibiotics. Many patients see significant improvement in their acne after two to four weekly treatment sessions. Treatments can be performed once to twice weekly. Following treatment, you may initially see the skin is less irritated and red. Visit our Specials page to learn more about our Back to School acne treatment special.
